What is the Star Registry?
The star registry can be found under www.star-register.com and all our star namings will be recorded in it.
By means of the registry number, which you will find on your certificate, you can retrieve your record anywhere in the world, at any time.

How can I see my star?
You will get a celestial map with the coordinates and all the details you need to locate your star.
To explore your star and the night sky we'd suggest the software Stellarium. It's one of the best software to explore the night sky. It's a free program which you can download at www.stellarium.org
There you can first select your point of view, like your hometown, and let you show the night sky at any time you want. Then you can enter the HIP number which you can find on your celestial map to locate the star.
But please activate the target symbol in the upper right corner first. After typing in your HIP number your star will be shown within the red target symbol

How does it work to name a star?
It's very easy to name a star with us.
First of all you have to decide if you want a normal star, a star within a constellation (Ursa Major / Great Dipper) for example or a Binary star.
Click on the desired package and you will be asked for all the details to personalize your star.
After you have gone through the checkout we will prepare the documents for you and enter your star in the registry.

Can I name a specific star?
Yes, you can name a specific star as long as you know the HIP number of it.
Simply select the constellation package and type in the HIP number of the star inside the constellation field.

What is a constellation?

Think of a puzzle where you join the dots – you may draw a dog, a lion or a giant. Constellations work the same way. By clumping stars together and joining the dots, you get imaginary pictures in the sky. Many constellations were named after figures in ancient mythology, some after Zodiac signs and others after animals..

What is a Binary Star?

A binary star system consists of two stars. You got one "main" star which gets surrounded by its "companion". The main star of the system is much brighter than the fainter companion, so only this star gets named and its coordinates will be mentioned on the certificate and your individual star chart.
Simply enter both names together and they will be both mentioned on your certificate.

What is a Swarovski star?

A Swarovski star is a small pendant which can be used as a necklace or simply hang in front of a window.
We have three different sizes
0,78 inch / 20 millimeters
1,10 inch / 28 millimeters
1,78 inch / 40 millimeters

What is the size of the documents?

The size of the documents (certificate and celestial map) is DIN A4 which equals 8.2 x 11.6 inch or 210 x 297 millimeters.
The certificate will have additional 0,10 inch or 3 millimeters because we put it in a laminating pouch.

What will I receive?

All our packages include a certificate and a celestial map.
You can optionally order a Swarovski star and a frame as well.

Will my star be visible?

We only name stars that are clearly visible during the whole year! Even tho it depends on which country you order from.
If you order from Australia, New Zealand or other southern countries we will name a star visible from the southern Hemisphere.
If you order a star from the USA, Europe or other northern countries we will name a star which will be visible from the northern hemisphere.
If you do not like the star we named for you, or should you be dissatisfied with our service, we will name another star for you or refund you the full purchase price.

Is there an App or Software to locate my star?

You will get a celestial map with the coordinates and all the details you need to locate your star.
To explore your star and the night sky we'd suggest the software Stellarium. It's one of the best software to explore the night sky. It's a free program which you can download at www.stellarium.org
There you can first select your point of view, like your hometown, and let you show the night sky at any time you want. Then you can enter the HIP number which you can find on your celestial map to locate the star.
But please activate the target symbol in the upper right corner first. After typing in your HIP number your star will be shown within the red target symbol.

Do you name stars multiple times?

Unfortunately we have to name stars more than once. Otherwise we couldn't supply clearly visible stars to all our customers. But each star naming we process will get its own registry number with a unique entry in the Star Naming Registry.

.

What is a star registration?

In the context of star naming, it is generally understood that a private person is naming a star. This name can be either an invented name, such as “little mouse”, or a real name, for example “Sarah Johnson”. In general, any name is possible. All the star namings we process are recorded in the globally recognised Star-naming Registry. The naming of a star is valid for a lifetime, and there are no additional costs.

Can I change my order?

As long as we didn't process your order we can change it! Please simply fill out our contact form on www.star-registration.com/contact/ and choose "Change Order" as subject and explain what you'd like to change.
Once we processed your order it's already on the way to your door. Unfortunately we will have to charge for handling & shipping again in this case.

You can simply order changes on www.star-registration.com/custom/

What is the registration date?

The registration date is a symbolic date which you'll find on your certificate.
It can be in the future as well as in the past.
It doesn't affect the registration itself or the delivery date.
We will process the star naming right after you completed your order.
